High School Musical 2

Quick! Go see High School Musical 2 or Massachusetts will lose a pillar of the theatrical community!

The 55-year-old nonprofit North Shore Music Theatre (NSMT), like most everything else that has endured the diabolically culture-averse Bush regime, is in the throes of economic distress — so much so that it's announced that, barring immediate and extreme philanthropic action, the curtains will close on Troy and Gabriella for good.

Low ticket sales coupled with the wider economic collapse have put the theater on shaky ground. And there's more at stake than HSM2.

According to spokespersons for the theater, NSMT must earn nearly a half-million dollars by the end of January in order to sustain operations, and is appealing to the public for urgent help in the form of donations and ticket purchases.

High School Musical 2 runs through January 11, and there are cabaret-style "Save Our Theatre" performances scheduled for January 8 and 10.

If you're in the mood to donate, or need times and ticket information, call 978.232.7200 or visit nsmt.org.
