HBO's Game of Thrones unveils trailer, teaser, new website
Fans of George R. R. Martin's fantasy novel series, A Song of Ice and Fire, have been itching to see footage of HBO's adaptation, Game of Thrones, ever since the show got greenlit last March. HBO has finally given us this video, which includes brief interviews with Martin and the actors as well as shots of the filming in progress. There's also a short teaser called "Raven."
The TV show won't be out until Spring 2011, so I've tried to resist obsessing about it, but this video has gotten me impatient all over again. I mean, come on, it's Peter Dinklage! He's going to be the best Tyrion ever! And Sean Bean as Ned Stark? You really couldn't ask for better. And Lena Headey's dyed blonde locks look way better than I could've ever dreamed (like most fans, I was dubious about HBO casting a brunette as Cersei).
If you want more objective information, rather than my fannish squealing, you should bookmark the Winter Is Coming blog, a fan-run source of updates about Game of Thrones. Check out their shot-by-shot analysis of the promotional video here. WIC only covers the TV show, so if you want to hear about the upcoming books, pester Martin himself at his Not A Blog.
Turns out we Thrones fans have another bookmark to add: HBO has created a production diary in website form at MakingGameOfThrones.Com. I guess HBO figured we deserve a special promotional space to get updates straight from the horse's (dragon's?) mouth.
