VIDEO OF THE WEEK: exclusive Cave In DVD preview

Cave In, "Juggernaut (Live at Great Scott, 2009)"

When Cave In signed off at the tail end of 2006, we feared one of Boston’s greatest post-metal bands had perished before its prime. So when a couple of years later they snuck back into the studio and then unveiled a blistering new EP with a one-off show at Great Scott, we grabbed our cameras — just in case it turned out to be a last hurrah. We’re glad to report it was not: this week, Cave In kick off a mini-tour that climaxes with a November 22 homecoming gig at the Middle East. And they’re releasing the previously vinyl-only Planets of Old on CD, with a bonus DVD shot during their Great Scott comeback set. Today we're debuting an exclusive preview of the DVD, shot by Somerville filmmaker Joe Constantine. Get stoked: Cave In's back, bitches!

CAVE IN TOUR DATES:

November 19 The Knitting Factory Brooklyn, NY
November 20 First Unitarian Church Philadelphia, PA
November 21 Club Hell Providence, RI
November 22 The Middle East Downstairs Cambridge, MA

Perfect Pitch Black is a piece of work representing one of the more tumultuous times...

480 Mass Ave, Central Square

The largest of the four Middle East rooms, the Downstairs is a converted bowling alley...

Ok, so Mike's an idiot, lol

Caleb's scream compliments Steve's scream/singing REALLY well.  Feel free to disagree but before you do, I would recommend listening to those albums again but this time with the ears on your head, rather than the one in your sphincter.

I love the new EP and the direction they're heading in.

    Brut-iful stuff.

I'm happy that one of the bands that got me into hardcore and alternative music is still playing and playing well. I first saw cave in almost 10 years ago and have such an appreciation for the musicianship and character of thier music. Both the brutal and the ambient.

Good thing there's been screaming in their music long before their "last couple recordings." Maybe you should check out their first couple recordings before you go on talking about things you clearly know nothing about.
