Nominate-best-2010

What are your favorite alternative albums of the 2000s?

You may already be getting sick of reading the obligatory Top Albums of the Decade list that every music editor, blogger, and social networker has been ordered to shove down your throat. Pitchfork's got 200. Paste's got 50, and so does NPR.

If these lists have anything in common, it's that they leave us wanting to throw in our own two cents. So instead of giving you yet another hyper-subjective list, we've teamed up with our sister station WFNX and loaded 400 albums into a random-generating thingamabob. You pick your favorites in head-to-head battles. Then, in December, WFNX will broadcast a countdown of the 101 Top Alternative Albums of the 2000s according to your votes. You can vote here and monitor the ongoing tally of results here.

We're finding this exercise slightly addictive. Who can resist parlor arguments like Sonic Youth vs. Dirty Projectors, Animal Collective vs. Elliott Smith, the Decemberists vs. Antony and the Johnsons, Phoenix vs. the White Stripes, Franz Ferdinand vs. Feist, Bright Eyes vs. Kings of LeonGet Up Kids vs. Taking Back Sunday, or, you know, Death Cab versus themselves?

VOTE:  Your Top 101 Alternative Albums of the Decade [WFNX]
