Carrie Brownstein teases Sleater-Kinney reunion
There is actually not really much news in this recent Guardian interview with Carrie Brownstein. But we hear "Sleater-Kinney" and "reunion" mentioned in the same breath and our ears prick up. Here's Brownstein:
"I think it will happen," Brownstein said. "We [just] have to loop
around."
The piece quotes her as saying the reunion is possible "in the next five years." Concrete!
In seriousness, from the sounds of things, all three ex-S-K-ers sound like they're too busy to deal with such things. Brownstein blogs like crazy, does funny things with Fred Armisen (like this St. Vincent video), and has started a new band worked on a film-soundtrack project with her former bandmate Janet Weiss, the best drummer working in America today, who's still in Quasi and also drums for the Jicks. And Corin Tucker continues to devote herself to parenting while also planning a solo album (per the Guardian article). But at the same time: they appear to remain on good terms, and given Brownstein's remarks and the popularity of reunions these days, it would not be surprising to see this happen.
