MP3 of the Week: Phantom Glue, "Phantom Glue"
This doesn’t happen very often, so brace yourself for the biggest MP3 of the Week trifecta ever: PHANTOM GLUE’s “Phantom Glue” off Phantom Glue. As that unlikely trinity might suggest, this is the sound of a sludge-metal band in the throes of full stonerific self-realization. And it’s a brute-iful thing. An amalgam of all-star moonlighters (sporting members of everyone from 27 to the Huguenots to Hydronaut to the Proselyte), the Glue creep 10 times slower and 100 times louder than death itself on this, their song of themselves. The homonymous debut (tracked in six hours on a Friday, finito by Sunday) will be released through Teenage Disco Bloodbath Records this month, but it will see a sliver of the light of day this Saturday, May 1, as they rock a special matinee-style Born of Fire BBQ at O’Brien’s with Disappearer and the Austerity Program. Grab a hot dog before their set torches them all — and grab an MP3 of “Phantom Glue” below.
