R.I.P Bob Lazarus

Boston-based stand-up comedian Bob Lazarus succumbed to a near-two-year battle with Leukemia yesterday.

"Laz" got his start in the late 1970s, at the locally and nationally renowned Ding Ho Comedy Club in Inman Square, making a name for himself alongside fellow comic powerhouses Steven Wright, Denis Leary, Paula Poundstone, Lenny Clarke, Jimmy Tingle, and Bobcat Goldthwait.  Over the course of his multi-decade comedy career, Lazarus toured (often with Wright) clubs and colleges across the country, and made several television appearances on Comedy Central and Showtime. Film credits include Mystic River

Bob Lazarus was a pillar of the local comedy community, a husband, a father, a friend, and an outstanding human being. He was much beloved, and will be greatly missed.

    Dear Bob,

I had not been able to keep in touch with you over the past 15 yrs or so...and for that I am sorry. I lost touch with you when I moved away from New England 15 yrs ago and for that I am sorry. I was not there to be with you during your fight against Leukemia and for that I am sorry....But I had you as friend for almost 8 years back when we first met and for that I am not sorry....I am blessed !

Thank you for the part of your life you shared with me during my early days in comedy. You were always there to help with a joke and you would find me gigs when the phone didn't ring and you were such a good friend. I feel like a part of me is gone now, too... Not because I was a life-long friend, but because I wasn't... God bless, Bob...

Don't worry about us..>We will keep 'em laughing for you...until we see you again...

    Thanks for the laughs,

    David
