Bonny Doon Bouteille Call

More than a port in a storm
By GENEVIEVE RAJEWSKI  |  April 12, 2006

Bonny Doon Bouteille CallIn the spring, one turns to thoughts of love. So it’s not surprising that when April’s showers arrive, lads and lassies alike ring up their sure thing to “watch a movie” on the couch.

Even if your hookup is heartless, it need not be artless. To set the mood, pour a glass of Bonny Doon’s Bouteille Call and serve it alongside some dark chocolate. This port is the only fine wine to feature a label depicting a fez-wearing monkey staring longingly at a pair of legs in hooker boots.

The taste is also a far cry from the stuffy stuff associated with crusty old Europeans. Made with syrah grapes and fortified with raspberry liqueur, it’s indulgent and sweet without being cloying — like, hopefully, the one you’re with. You may not want it every day, but you’ll invite it back for sure.

Available for approximately $25 at BLM Wine and Spirits, 1354 Comm Ave, in Allston. Call 617.734.7700.
