Check the Friday night action: local nu-metalheads ACEROSE, A FAYLENE SKY, SCARE DON’T FEAR, and more invade Lupo’s (401.331.5876), ROUTE .44 and TALL TALL TREES headline at Firehouse 13 (401.270.1801), and a pair of gigs with international flair arrive with FUNKATRONIC enlisting musicians from Ghana at JR Bean’s in Bristol (401.253.7526), and SIERRA LEONE’S REFUGEE ALL-STARS will gather at Nick-a-Nee’s (401.861.7290) for a free US farewell show before the acclaimed octet return home to visit family in West Africa. And speaking of world-class flavor, SANTA MAMBA will “Rock the Boat” on Friday as part of Save the Bay’s 40th anniversary (tix at savebay.org), and the SM crew return to the Newport Blues Cafe on SATURDAY (the 2nd).

Did we mention how stoked we are for BUILT TO SPILL playing the Met? A slew of Saturday action continues with a nice double-bill at the Spot Underground (401.383.7133), with FOXTROT ZULU and an opening all-star cast backing DENNIS EMSLEY (celebrating his Hiding Behind Youth CD release), featuring GAMBLIN’ HANDS among others, while SHE RIDES and the MIDNIGHT CREEPS slay the 201 (401.454.4581), and acclaimed electro-whiz/DJ Timothy O’Keefe, aka <tfo>, who recently dropped the first installment of his Grand Strategy EP series, will reignite his Indie-Dance Party at West Side Arts (745 Westminster Street) following the "Lil Rhody Does it Big" art exhibit.
