New band alert

Sibilance

• New band alert: MATT SHARDLOW (DIV KID, etc.) reports he's in the studio with JACK MURRAY turning the knobs for a group comprising drummer NIKKI GLASPIE (BEYONCÉ), NATE EDGAR of JOHN BROWN'S BODY on bass, and AARON BELLAMY of the SAM KININGER BAND and NEPHROK! ALL-STARS on guitar. Still no moniker, but look for an album by fall.

• Did you hear that HISS & CHAMBERS song on Extreme Couponing? The one with the girl from Portland? Yeah, us neither, but that clip, along with some placements in NBA commercials and CNN spots, has the band thinking reunion this summer. Stay tuned for gigs.

• We know you heard LOKI were all finished. And they are. As a four-piece. However, the band are returning to action as a three-piece, June 10, with a gig at the Big Easy with FIFTH FREEDOM, TEAR DOWN THE SUN, and BETTER THAN. Listen for "Flipped Right Sideways," one of two new tracks Loki recorded recently with JONATHAN WYMAN.
