Local doom-metalheads TOVARISH hit AS220 on FRIDAY (the 19th) with LOBOTOMIZER and SO IS THE TONGUE ($6, 401.831.9327). The Broad Street Tap in Cumberland should be an equally wild scene on Friday when THE MCGUNKS pay a visit with TONY JONES & THE CRETIN 3 and THE FURIOUSITY opening (21+, free, 401.725.8594 for details and directions). On SATURDAY (the 20th), highlights include THE DOLL EYES storming the Beachcomber in Misquamicut, and STEVE ALLAIN hosts the RISA Saturday Night Session at the Brooklyn Coffee & Tea House (Douglas Ave, PVD), which runs on the first and third Saturday of the month; JACOB HALLER (of the Killdevils) and friends stop by this week, call 401.575.2284 for more. The Spot Underground (401.383.7133) hosts another solid weekend of action starting with NIGHTS WITHOUT TELEVISION and VIRAL SOUND on Friday, then RUNE, DENNIS EMSLEY'S HIDING BEHIND YOUTH, and FALL & BOUNCE on Saturday. On SUNDAY (the 21st), get to AS220 for a good one led by COMA COMA with ROME ROMEO and local newcomers CEDROS (check out some killer demos posted at cedros.bandcamp.com). PROVIDENCE MUSIC FEST week kicks off on TUESDAY (the 23rd) at the Sidebar Bistro, with a fantastic roster featuring ROOMFUL OF BLUES, THE AGENTS, FUNGUS AMUNGUS, THE ADAM EZRA BAND, LOVE IN STOCKHOLM, SOUL SHOT, and plenty more. Call 401.421.7200 for info, and visit providencemusicfest.com for the full schedule and discounted three-day weekend passes. On Tuesday at the Speakeasy (below Local 121, 401.274.2121), catch A TROOP OF ECHOES, SLIME (with Lightning Bolt's Brian Gibson), and ZORCH.
