By PROVIDENCE PHOENIX MUSIC STAFF  |  June 6, 2012

Brace thy eardrums for BAYLIES BAND, OLNEYVILLE SOUND SYSTEM, and HEADLESS NIXON at Fête (401.383.1112) on THURSDAY (the 7th). On FRIDAY (the 8th), stop by PVD Social Club early for the "Summertime Horror Spookshow," with TONY JONES & THE CRETIN 3, NECROPHILIAC MEAT CIRCUS, and AMERICAN HELLBILLY (7 pm, all-ages, $5 at the door). And hip-hop heads should get to Firehouse 13 (401.270.1801) for expert wordsmith ESH THE MONOLITH, MAYHEM, SKETCH THE CATACLYSM, and more. Nick-a-Nee's will unleash a fun-filled SATURDAY (the 9th) with the 3rd annual PINTS FOR PAWS party (benefiting PARL), with music by Fall & Bounce, Northern Lands, The Throttles, and more; the event kicks off around 3 pm, call 401.861.7290 for details. Saturday evening options include: Avail's Tim Barry at Fête (all-ages, $12); 75orLess Records delivers another low-dough/high-quality affair at JR Bean in Bristol starring GOOD TIME CHARLIE, SIX STAR GENERAL, and the return of PROPELLERS; and the Spot Underground delivers another fun weekend, leading off with SANTA MAMBA and MIKE ROLLINS & CO. on Saturday (9 pm, $10), then SUNDAY (the 10th) join DIRTYDURDIE and special guests for The Clean Up listening party. Also on Sunday, AS220 starts with another installment of RISA's SONGWRITERS IN THE ROUND (6 pm), followed by Tony Jones & the Cretin 3, SOURPUNCH, and THE IF (9 pm); call 401.831.9327 for info on both gigs. What better way to start the week/continue the weekend than our BEST MUSIC POLL AWARDS SHOW going down on MONDAY (the 11th) at the Met. FREE admission, FREE parking, FREE eats, and live performances courtesy of TORN SHORTS, THE BROTHER KITE, SIX STAR GENERAL, and the mighty JUAN DEUCE & FALSIDE headlining! We had a blast last year — hope to see y'all there when doors open at 6 pm. A busy week at the Met rolls on with a strong (and massively loud) lineup on TUESDAY (the 12th) with locals SOUL CONTROL and RAINDANCE supporting SCREAMING FEMALES and CEREMONY; then head back on WEDNESDAY (the 13th) for FALL & BOUNCE and ROUTE .44 (new album out soon!).
