Reverend Run's daughter is the unfortunate subject of the week's least appealing headline, courtesy of Allhiphop.com: "ANGELA SIMMONS Launches 'Bikini' Hair Extension Line." Godspeed, future pube baroness.

The longstanding legal beef between MORRISSEY and the NME newspaper may finally be drawing to a close. In 2007, NME published an article that seemed to insinuate that Morrissey was a racist; that insinuation took the form of publishing racist comments made by Morrissey. Moz objected via lawsuit, claiming he wasn't a racist at all, and it was all a malicious setup to sell papers — he only said it was a bummer that England was full of brown people, not that brown people are bad. . . .

Now the paper has printed an apology — no money has changed hands, and they haven't retracted the article, but it's a start. "We wish to make clear that we do not believe that [Morrissey] is a racist," NME writes. "We didn't think we were saying he was, and we apologise to Morrissey if he or anyone else misunderstood our piece in that way."

"We never set out to upset Morrissey, and we hope we can both get back to doing what we do best." Uh oh! That's just asking for another roll in the mud — what Morrissey does best is making crypto-racist statements, and what NME does best is stopping juuuuust short of calling him a racist.

If you'd like a solid afternoon laugh, go check out the YouTube video of a Croatian metal festival crowd chucking rocks at DAVE MUSTAINE's skull while chanting — this is almost too good to be true — "We want W.A.S.P.!"

Boy howdy, THE BIG GUY has NOT been kind to the wheels of his flock. ChristianMusicDaily.com reports the following incidents in the last month: a band called SANCTUS REAL had their tour bus burst into sky-high flames, destroying all their belongings; a band called SEVENTH DAY SLUMBER had their bus broken into, losing three grand's worth of stuff; a group called the BROTHERS MCCLURG had their RV die on the way to a gig; gospel singer MARVIN WINANS was carjacked in Detroit and some jerk made off with his Rolex. Miraculously, all were spared harm — but they'd better start polishing those fish decals, lest God visit further wrath upon their whips.

My curiosity was piqued when I came across a press release claiming SKYLAR GREY had completed a totally DIY sci-fi concept album; I primarily knew her as a singer of rap hooks and the writer of "Love the Way You Lie," so it felt a little out of her wheelhouse. Turns out it wasn't what it seemed.

Not to be confused with pop figure Holly Brook, whose stage name is Skylar Grey, multi-instrumentalist SKYLAR GRAY, as named at birth in 1982 (notice the spelling difference?), recently released his debut album An Inch Equals 200 Miles. This concept album — featuring themes of alien abduction, imperial conquest, genocide, and other familiar sci-fi topics — was created from start to finish with DIY techniques and equipment.
