Joe Frechette, frontman of Dead is the Sky, weighs in on Gary Hoey’s “Pipeline” and Winterpills’ “A Benediction.”

“Pipeline” by Gary Hoey
“Surfy Van Halen-ish ... Sounds like good intro music to a television show, ya know? ... So, I threw up on stage last night at the show ... violently. It’s sappy and fun, but I want vocals. ... Has a little adventure to it. Maybe a little too poppy for me.”

“A Benediction” by Winterpills
“They’re doing the Garfunkel thing, huh? ... Playful yet somber with tones that cause chills down my back. ... His voice has a certain longing and desperation. ... Shit sounds good and clean.”
