For those of you looking for more-genuine NRBQ, there’s a new version of the band’s ever-expanding Christmas disc, formerly a single, an EP, and a mini-album. Now it’s expanded to a full-length 19-track CD. The new stuff is mainly the guys (in a few different line-ups) taking unrehearsed whacks at Christmas songs during the “request box” section of their live shows. Great for fans who miss the band’s eccentric side, but everyone else needs the disc for the title track. First released in 1979, it’s a warm-hearted folk-rock number that should have become a holiday standard decades ago.
