Love is all There was a time when the saxophone was the King of Rock; now its only place outside of jazz is with the Muppet Show house band. But there are exceptions to every rule, and Sweden's Love is All are that. Here they slam out of the gate with a sax-driven dance anthem that’s more Contortions than Comets. The second track, “Spinning and Scratching,” takes a break from the brashness long enough to introduce a chorus of wordless harmonies that tail the melody for the duration of the song. So much vamping along to dance beats would grow tiresome if the band didn’t sound like a claustrophobic girl group so often. “Turn the TV Off” is a shambling little ’60s-influenced party that lasts less than two minutes but packs some serious bass-line boogie. 9 Times That Same Song is both retro and current yet cows down to neither.
