• The ROTORS TO RUST show last weekend wasn't a one-off. The band have plans to release a new disc at the end of summer on MARK CURDO's LABOR DAY RECORDS. Bassist JASON GROSSO says the new material is more loose and creative than you've heard from the three-piece before.

• We told you last week that this is the year for local festivals. Now comes word of the WEPUSHBUTTONS ELECTRONIC MUSIC FESTIVAL, promising more than 40 artists at seven venues over five days in September.

• There are a pair of new shows helping promote local music on WPXT (channel 12 for Time Warner types), both made by LIGHTHOUSE FILMS. At 10 pm, catch The Brand New TV Show, a magazine-type show that has a segment each week on what's coming up for the weekend. Then, at 11:30, you can catch LIVE AT PORT CITY MUSIC HALL, which will be an Austin City Limits kind of show featuring a new concert each month. July has GYPSY TAILWIND's album-release party from last month.
