You like the beer up Hallowell way? Well, it’s coming south. THE LIBERAL CUP will be opening a new place, on Saco Island, sometime around July 1, and they’ll be continuing their Thursday/Sunday music schedule as well. They’ve even got a familiar name doing the booking: CHARLIE GAYLORD, who’s added Cornmeal Booking to his Cornmeal Records and other ventures under the CORNMEAL MEDIA GROUP umbrella (doesn’t that sound giant conglomerate-like — we hear Gaylord has interns who get him coffee). If you want to get gigs going down there, check in with him throughwww.cornmealrecords.com.
Did you know LOS FEDERALES are putting a reunion show together? Yes sir, those of you pining for their brand of alt-country-jam and Townes Van Zandt references can catch them again at the Bramhall Pub, June 7. We regret to have never really taken note that the band had gone away. They certainly entertained a lot of people from 2000 through 2006, earning a Bimpy nomination or two.
The buzz about ALL NIGHT CHEMIST, featuring SHAWN MAINES and DAN PAULSEN from EVERY FORTY SECONDS and TRENT GAY from STARS LOOK DOWN and TRAILOR, is totally justified. They’re a thoughtful three-piece who can rock when they want to.
If you’re looking for some insight into the new DOMINIC AND THE LUCID disc, check out their show with the DIG on Saturday — they claim it will be their last before they release Season of the Sun in July.
