A major booster shot in the testosterone-loaded GOP primary field. (Looking at the Democrats, I'd call on Hillary to help me in a street fight long before I'd call on Obama or Edwards!) Anyhoo, the endorsement's effectiveness depends on how it's packaged and presented to the audiences beyond the Real Clear readership. Huckabee needs to emerge from the pack as a strong-minded, resolute leader and Chuck Norris' endorsement may be the ticket to ride.
Norris, in the linked article, makes a key point that most of our more recent presidents had served as governors before aspiring and perspiring toward the presidency. In many respects, the president serves as the nation's CEO. The last U. S. Senator elected President was John F. Kennedy in 1960.
Saw Huckabee in the recent PBS-sponsored Morgan State University debate. He impressed with his compassion, apparent authenticity and common sense understanding of what's going on in the world and what to do about it. He noted his having been re-elected governor of Arkansas with 48% of the Black American vote - a key factor in the GOP having credibility with persons of color.
While the religious right may be fearful of a Giuliani or Romney presidential nomination, their choice of an ordained Baptist minister as their V.P. should satisfy the evangelical Christians.
