10.24.10: Sky Larkin at Great Scott

I first saw Sky Larkin, a female-fronted British power-trio of outstanding merit, three years ago at Pianos in New York City, and figured they’d make their way up here to New England eventually. Lo and behold, on Sunday they play their first Boston show at Great Scott in Allston.

Here are the few oddities: 1) They’re not headlining, WTF [Editor’s note: Don’t sleep on Blood Red Shoes, kids]; b) They’re from the UK, FTW; and 7) singer Katie Harkin plays guitar like J. Mascis and sings like the chick from Land of Talk. The Dinosaur Jr comparison get pushed even deeper as the bassist and drummer beat the hell out of the middle section a-la Barlow and Murph and well... I’m just so excited.

So get to Great Scott and don’t miss this show. Either they’ll blow up and never play an intimate Allston club ever again, or they’ll just never come back to the states and never play a club again period. So check the video for "Beeline" up above, and yeah, do it.
