MIA launches clothing line

WWD reports today that MIA, who's been the face of Marc Jacobs as of late (about that, she says in the articl e: "The whole time I was doing that campaign I was like, 'Does Marc Jacobs know who I am? He didn't let me into his parties and stuff six months before.'"), has started her own clothing line.

"'I have my own label now," Arulpragasam said, 'which is the only thing I've been wearing recently.

Jay-Z's get rich quick plan

As you may have heard by now, today's New York Times reports that Jay-Z is "on the verge" of closing a multi-million dollar deal with Live Nation, which would tie albums, concerts, and any other business ventures that Jay-Z has the slightest desire to carry out into one neat, Live Nation-financed package (“I’ve turned into the Rolling Stones of hip-hop,” Jay-Z says).

Berklee to open all-ages concert venue

Good news for the under-21 crowd (or anyone tiring of the Middle East - if that's even possible). Before Lyons and co. open up Boston's House of Blues, Berklee's beating them to the punch with a shiny new all-ages "200-person capacity concert venue, featuring high-end PA and lighting systems, video and DVD capabilities" on Boylston Street.

MGMT loves karaoke, or, "How to ruin your catchiest song"

We’ve seen the Brooklyn-based band Yeasayer live at Great Scott before (see our previous, gushing post), so we thought we knew what to expect at Tuesday night’s gig at the same venue, with MGMT. WXPN’s World Café recently described Yeasayer as purveyors of “haunted robotic gospel” music, and that seems totally on target.

Ryan Adams just wants to be your sober little bear

It seems useless to pine for the days when Ryan Adams was just a Gram Parsons worshipping, "Too Drunk to Dream," alt-country fool in a lil band called Whiskeytown because, nine albums (some Heartbreakingly beautiful, some not so Easy to take in, tiger) and a shitload of drugs later, he still sort of is that guy. But older, wiser, soberer - with an addiction to Diet Coke, not the other kind of coke - and definitely weirder.
