King Richard's Faire '09: Fun, but for a tidy sum

This past weekend marked the opening of King Richard’s Faire in Carver, MA. Most Renaissance faires can only dream of what King Richard’s has achieved: a permanent venue at an 80-acre wooded park in which they’ve built an expansive medieval village that must be seen to be believed. I attended the faire several times in my middle and high school years, and I decided to drop everything on Labor Day for the chance to find out if the festival is still as fun as I remembered.

Grand Theft Auto IV hits the internet, Microsoft investigating

So a pirated copy of the PAL (Australia, New Zealand, and the EU) version of Grand Theft Auto IV - in part, the subject of the cover story of this week's Phoenix - hit the internet last night. Presumably, someone leaked an advance review copy (don't look at us, we haven't even gotten it yet.)

But here's the thing: the people who are playing it illegally - some of them, at least - are not too smart.

OiNK shut down!

Hot on the heels of the news that TV Links UK was shut down over the weekend comes word that OiNK, the torrent site on which hundreds of thousands of people were downloading albums ranging from the classics to stuff that won't even be released for about another six months, was shut down by English and Dutch police forces, who also arrested the site's 24-year-old proprietor
