"There's some backstage drama that you don't know about. I guess there's a problem with the wireless mics and they can hear what we're saying at The Color Purple!"
That was Kristen Schaal speaking to Eugene Mirman onstage last night at the Wilbur Theatre. The two were reconvening after their respective solo sets when Schaal delivered the news of the audio malfunction, presumably discovered while Mirman - he of the booming baritone - was on stage.

Yeah, so Mental Detox week began on Monday and I have yet to actually turn anything off - or at least the things that AdBusters, who launched the original TV Turn-Off week (now renamed Mental Detox Week) back in 1994, want me to. AdBusters has changed the guidelines to be both more forgiving and more inclusive.

We're not the only one who noticed that more and more trucks are dashing blindly onto Soldiers Field Road/Storrow drive. That's blindly, as in failed to notice the giant sign that warns "NO TRUCKS OR BUSES."

The ever-vigilant Channel 5 news team caught on to the trend and jumped on the bandwagon with a March 31 report about some dumb trucker who blamed the fact that he'd had to stop just short of the 11-foot-clearance railroad bridge by BU on his GPS.

Team USA Women's National Team eliminated in World Cup play

Would the outcome have been different had they stuck with the amazingly-named Hope Solo? Probably not.

Did Ryan open his team up to four years of second guessing with his decision? Yes.

Our soccer dude, Mitch Krpata, sums things up thusly: "I would say this is worse than Grady's Boner," referring to Grady Little famously leaving Pedro Martinez in too long in Game Seven of the 2003 ALCS (as though we have to remind you.) "Grady had too much faith in his guy -- Greg Ryan had none in his."

"Heroes" and "How I Met Your Mother" both stunk last night

It seems like the Heroes writers were so busy packing their premiere with plot that they neglected to consider that they were also making it unwatchable. A character had barely enough time last night to finish his/her lines before we were whisked off to the next character’s scene. Ok that’s an overstatement. But you get my point.

The Patriots' videotaping scandal: Let's all take a deep breath here

I'm not sure there's any way I can attempt to take a rational look at the recent revelations of the Patriots' videotaping tactics in a way that will make me look like anything but a homer, but I'm going to try.

What happened on Sunday was against the rules. And the Patriots got caught doing it. Whatever penalty the league decides to hand down in this case will have to be something we as fans accept and move on.
