Memorial Day weekend kicks off with a supremely stacked FRIDAY (the 24th): the Columbus Theatre celebrates Bob Dylan's B-day with a killer lineup including JOE FLETCHER, SMITH & WEEDEN, DYLAN SEVEY & THE GENTLEMEN, and MIGHTY GOOD BOYS ($10 and going fast, call 401.621.9660); WHAT CHEER? BRIGADE leads the way at AS220 (401.831.9327) with guests 2 TON BUG, TRIP DICKS, and MATH THE BAND; and head-banging locals will swarm Simon's 677 (401.270.6144) for WOOZY, GRAVESIDESERVICE, SEVEN YEAR PLAN, and MECHANICAL PROCESS; tix are $7 and the show is all-ages. Machines with Magnets in Pawtucket presents BOO CITY, RAVI SHAVI, and SARA AZRIEL on Friday, then head back there for hardcore crew RED HARE on SATURDAY (the 25th); call MWM at 401.261.4938 for info on both shows. Fête offers two solid options on Saturday: DEAD CONFEDERATE, MEAN CREEK, and ROADKILL GHOST CHOIR hit the lounge, while the ballroom is reserved for Strange Famous Records rhymer PROLYPHIC, with SFR kingpins SAGE FRANCIS, B. The new Theatre 82 in Cranston's Rolfe Square presents the "In the Round Square Festival" with plenty of big local names scheduled for Friday and Saturday, including STEVE ALLAIN, SARA AZRIEL, and more; call 401.301.6415 for the full scoop.
