Strange Famous Records will reconvene at Fête as the Church of Providence series continues on THURSDAY (the 22nd) with B. Dolan and legendary Dorchester wordsmith Akrobatik headlining, along with ESH & Dox, Choppa Tha Beatboxa, a freestyle rap battle hosted by SFR bossman Sage Francis and much more, all for just $10 at the door; dial 401.383.1113 for details. A solid weekend is on tap at Nick-a-Nee’s, with Shacklehands taking the stage FRIDAY (the 23rd) and a Killdevils reunion slated for SATURDAY (the 24th; no cover and 21+ for both shows (401,861.7290). There’s another solid weekend of free shows at the Narragansett Café, with Keturah & the Vinyl Grooves performing on Saturday; and head back there SUNDAY (the 25th) for the James Montgomery Band starting around 4 pm. And we have a budget-friendly THURSDAY (the 29th) already mapped out for you: start at Burnside Park for the ’Mericans (free, starts around 5 pm); then make tracks to the Parlour for the debut of a monthly showcase featuring various local acts. It kicks off with a doozy: Vudu Sister’s Keith McCurdy, Jay Berndt (of Kilgore fame), King Sickabilly, Bill Keough (Galvanize), and more — free of charge!
