New In The Phoenix -- The "10th Amendment Movement"
In this week's issue of the Boston Phoenix -- in print tomorrow, online now -- I take a look at the nation-wide explosion of "state sovereignty" initiatives, introduced in state legislatures to declare that the federal government has overstepped its constitutional bounds.
This exact same "Tenth Amendment Movement" reared its head roughly 16 years ago. Not coincidentally, that's the last time a Democratic President had just taken office. In fact, most of the resolutions being introduced today are word-for-word copies of the ones in circulation back then.
So, we are right back where we were with the venomous anti-government hatred of the Clinton years. (Just as I predicted.)
