Dunkelbarger's YouTube problem

Yesterday in Slate, John Dickerson had an fascinating piece on the use of web videos by the (now-triumphant) Ned Lamont campaign.

So here's my my question: does Phil Dunkelbarger know that YouTube exists? And if so, why isn' he using it?

After all, Dunkelbarger dreams of playing Lamont to Steve Lynch's Lieberman in next month's Democratic primary. But he's also vowed to cap his spending at $50,000. Given D.'s goal and fiscal constraints, you'd think he'd be taking full advantage of viral video--but when I search YouTube for "Dunkelbarger," I get squat.

Yes, we know about YouTube. Unfortunately, there just isn't that much video of Phil to post -- at all. The only thing we have is this, and it's online at the website: www.dunkelbargerdemocrat.org/bnn_240.mov Long interview format does not seem to lend itself to the YouTube audience. One of the problems is that the media coverage has been so thin; there are no news blurbies to post. And the spending cap mens we can't produce video snippets or campaign ads. Even if we don't air then on TV, we could air them on YouTube, but we'd still have to make em. I'll take it back to Phil and see what we might be able to make. Thank you for keeping us in mind and online!

Well, YouTube or not, if Lamont can win so can Dunk because the voters in Massachusetts feel a lot more anti war than the dems in Connecticut. And, the money and the media spent and used in the Lieberman/Lamont race does not need to be spent here. Everyone gets the idea. They just have to know that Dunkelbarger is antiwar and Lynch supports Bush's "stay the course" strategy in Iraq.
