Patrick-LaGuer, cont.
More in today's Globe on the connection between Deval Patrick and convicted rapist Benjamin LaGuer: Andrea Estes reports that Patrick
actually helped pay for the 2002 DNA test that upheld LaGuer's connection to the crime in question.
Also today: Blue Mass. Group's Charley on the MTA notes that some experts
remain unconvinced that the test's results were legit. (Charley's post also cites some serious shortcomings in the original case against LaGuer.)
The problem--for Patrick and his supporters--is that at this point, the story here isn't LaGuer's guilt or innocence. It's Patrick's inability or unwillingness to accurately describe his involvement with the case from the outset. If Kerry Healey capitalizes on this inability/unwillingness to win support from undecideds and soft Patrick backers, Patrick himself will be largely to blame.
P.S.--Is it just me, or does Patrick's clumsy handling of this issue remind anybody else of
Tom Reilly and Southborough?

it's willie horton all over again. those looking for a reason not to vote for mr. patrick know have a limb to cling on. but why,and where, is a reason to vote for kerry healy.

I am very disappointed that the Boston Phoenix doesn't have a sophisticated, progressive, blog like our sister city San Francisco has in Salon.
Why read the Phoenix blog to hear the Republican talking points.
Ooops, that must explain why there is such an abundance of people posting to Adam's daily rants.
-
I'll handle this one Adam.
Screw You Roger!
-
1. Ernie, thanks.
2. Roger, do you want Deval Patrick to be governor? And if so, do you like the way he's letting this story linger?
-
I believe that there is a disproportionate number of men-of-color on death row. I believe that DNA tests have shown us that there are innoncent people in prisons. I believe that the Charles Stuart case showed us how easy it is to blame a Black man to assuage the population.
I believe that Deval is an honorable man who did an honorable thing for honorable reasons.
-
It's too bad the parole board did not take seriously Deval's request for Ben to be released, imagine how much better this state would be with a man like that back in society! I hope I have the facts right, Deval did request a convicted rapist who tortured an elderly lady to be released? Right? True leadership in action.
-
You are absolutely right Chris. The reason Black men run for office in the first place is to get all of the other black men out of jail. That is why Adam was warning us against voting for Deval in the first place.
Nigs, er,, Blacks should not be allowed to run for office. Lock them up, Harvard degree and all.
-
How much money and effort did DeVal Patrick put into defending Richard Jewell or more locally, Joe Salvati and Edmund Burke, all WHITE MEN wrongly accused of MURDER and later freed when they were PROVEN innocent?
I guess Deval was too busy trying to free LeGeur, who was FOUND GUILTY by a jury and CONFIRMED GUILTY by DNA.
Amazingly, the Dems (for the 5th gubernatorial race in a row) have handed the corner office to the tiny Republican party. These Mass. Dems are priceless!

i guess a "fish" rots from the gead first..yes? am in awe of this one's ability to read...lol!

Anybody else notice that the same small group of Healey supporters ("Peter Porcupine" "o-fish-l" "chris smith" etc) are cross-posting almost identical Deval smears in every blog they can find? See BlueMassGroup, HubPolitics, and the utterly slimey Deval Watch for examples.
