District 2 Predictions?

It's time to make your predictions for Tuesday's Southie/South End City Council preliminary election. Who will get the top two slots, to face each other in the final?

The contestants are Mary Cooney, Bob Ferrara, Ed Flynn, Michael Linehan, Bob O'Shea, and Susan Passoni.

I think Linehan will survive the backlash of the rumored heavy hand of City Hall behind his campaign, and finish first. I think Passoni will squeak out a second-place finish ahead of Flynn, with O'Shea making a solid showing as well.

Your thoughts?

Boston City Council's stenographer does not use up to date software that would put closed captioning on the Council broadcasts for people with hearing loss. The stenographic machine output and transcription of the output are not made available. A more up to date stenographic services vendor should be used. Minutes of public meetings of the Council are too abbreviated to be understood by people with civic interest in Council proceedings and Council transactions.

Passoni did really well in 2005. She wasn't just the anti-Kelly candidate - she painted herself as a worthy alternative to Kelly and probably laid pretty good groundwork for this race. So, she probably shouldn't be counted out. Similar to little Eddie, who ran once before and is the son of luminary ... although, that didn't help Billy Bulger, Jr. Interestingly, a Google News search reveals some coverage links but not much in the way of newspaper endorsements.
