Regrets, He's Had A Couple....

Don Frederick of the LA Times notes that in last night's debate, Mitt Romney said:

"One of the two great regrets I have in life is I didn't serve in the military. I'd love to have, but I don't believe that you have to have served in the military to be a great commander in chief or to be a great foreign policy expert."

-- and never said what his other great regret is.

Any guesses?

I was actually very curious myself. Maybe it was running for governor of Massachusetts instead of Utah or Michigan?

The other regret is that he didn't have more kids. That was hilarious Tom! I was almost going to say that the other great regret was not encouraging any of his boys to serve in the military.

If Mitt licked his wounds after suffering setbacks in the mid-term elections and came back as a strong candidate for re-election in 2007, he would now be in his 5th year as governor and likely be hitting his stride. He’d have appointed solid majorities on the UMass and Turnpike Boards. He’d have learned his way around the statehouse. And he’d likely be implementing large chunks of his agenda and establishing himself as one of the pre-eminent governors of the country. Oh and he’d be about forty or fifty million dollars richer. So I think his biggest regret has to be this ridiculous and shallow presidential campaign of his.

The wise Mr. Keane weighed in with the correct answer, as I have since learned. But I often prefer witty answers to correct ones.
