In the new issue of the
Boston Phoenix, out today, I have an item about Boston police officers who were alleged to have defrauded the paid-detail system. Last year, Commissioner Ed Davis moved to fire them, amid considerable media attention. But last month, he quietly agreed to have them serve mere four-month suspensions, without demotions in rank.
