New In The Phoenix -- Sara Orozco

In this week's issue of the Boston Phoenix, I take a look at someone who is emerging as a potential hero of Massachusetts progressives: Sara Orozco, the political neophyte trying to unseat state senator Scott Brown. I depict her as Underdog versus the All-American, and I'd be interested what any of you out there think about her chances.

The issue is out in print tomorrow, but you can read it online now:

The Underdog: Sara Orozco thinks she can beat all-American GOP superstar Scott Brown. Can she convince anyone else?

When listing the recent incidents concerning Scott Brown's issues of late (the King Philip incident in January, 2007 and the latest one about his youngest daughter's horse ownership with Mr, Piontowski of Plainridge Racetrack fame), why do you not include his infamous performance at the 2006 Memorial Day ceremonies in Wrentham when, in a speech to area veteran's, he compared their sacrifices in wartime (WWII, Korea, Vietnam, Gulf War, Iraq) with his daughter Ayla's performance as a quarter-finalist on American Idol?  He is such a media hound that he has ridden both his wife's position and his daughter's greater-than fifteen minutes to grab some attention when he lacks any significant legislative achievement to trumpet to the voters.  He's shallow, self-absorbed and lacks even a modicum of expertise in his profession as a real estate attorney (too many stories of clients who had to have closings and deed issues re-done by other attorneys after he botched their paperwork!).  He's been a poster-boy ever since his GQ spread, but his depth of understanding anything hasn't matured beyond the model-trained smile and all-but-nude photos.
