Here Comes Some Bashing!

I was sorely disappointed in the lack of Obama-bashing yesterday at the RNC, but today we'll get plenty of it in the lead-up to the big Palin acceptance speech.

Even mild-mannered Mike Huckabee will be lobbing bombs. Check out this advance exerpt:

Maybe the most dangerous threat of an Obama presidency is that he would continue to give madmen the benefit of the doubt. If he’s wrong just once, we will pay a heavy price.

It looks like our own former governor Mitt Romney will mostly knock around liberal Democrats generically, although we get this exerpt:

And at Saddleback, after Barack Obama dodged and ducked every direct question, John McCain hit the nail on the head: radical Islam is evil, and he will defeat it! Republicans prefer straight talk to politically correct talk!

Romney should go on around 9:15 or so Eastern time, followed by the Huckster. Giuliani gets the top of the network hour at 10:00 -- despite doing far worse than Romney in the primaries -- presumably because A) McCain doesn't hate him like he hates Romney; B) Americans don't hate him the way they hate Romney; and C) Giuliani kicks major-league ass at these kinds of things. I always think that Mayor Rudy does the best attack -- speech or press conference -- of anyone in the GOP. Oddly, the early Giuliani exerpts don't include any Obama zingers; but I'll bet there will be plenty.

Gov. Linda Lingle of Hawaii will introduce Sarah Palin, which will still leave me trying to figure out whether my initial hyperbolic reaction to Palin's announcement was sexist or anti-small-fluky-noncontiguous-statist. (Although if I decide that Lingle, who is Jewish, would have been qualified, then we'll know that it was religion-bias.)

(BTW, my "40-state" prediction may also have been slightly hyperbolic; I'll backtrack to 35. For now.)

It should be worth watching the 8:00-9:00 ET hour for the Carly Fiorina & Meg Whitman speeches, which I believe will be bookended around a video package of McCain's economic plan.

Also, BOTH of the GOP's black men will be speaking tonight!
