O'Malley Takes MassEquality Job

Red-haired sprite Matt O'Malley will take over as MassEquality's political director, replacing local legend Matt McTighe, according to a release just sent out.

Geez, easy job now that McTighe has pretty much won everything there is to win in the state, dontcha think?

Just kidding -- I like to tease O'Malley, because he has one of those genetic defects that makes him actually want to be on the Boston City Council. Aside from those losing efforts, O'Malley has been active in various campaigns, and managed Sheriff Andrea Cabral to victory; he is currently her director of legislative affairs.

McTighe is heading off for some travel and time off, according to MassEquality spokesperson Melissa Threadgill. Can't say I blame him. He'll hand over the reigns later this month (after the primaries, of course -- he's got Carl Sciortino and Dianne Wilkerson to get re-elected).

Oh, and Threadgill disputes my assertion that there's nothing left to do; she says there are still challenges ahead for O'Malley to work on, beginning with the transgender non-discrimination bill in the next legislative session.
