Lots And Lots Of Skeptics

Now that the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) is a fading memory, you're probably wondering not getting your fill of speeches from people completely disconnected with reality. If so, you'll be glad to learn that the 2009 International Conference on Climate Change (ICCC) is underway!

The ICCC --"The world’s largest-ever gathering of global warming skeptics" -- meets in New York this year to ponder that great question: “Global warming: Was it ever really a crisis?”

The conference is put on by the Heartland Institute, and co-sponsored by some five dozen other organizations -- including many of the usual right-wing suspects, like Accuracy in Media, Americans for Tax Reform, Liberty Institute, Pacific Research Institute, and the Heritage Foundation.

They're putting some transcripts online, and may even have some video if we're all lucky enough.

Disconnected from reality?  Right.  A greenhouse is green because it is warm and CO2 filled. Undeniable reality. And here's a book you can buy:

Aerial fertilization of wheat plants with carbondioxide gas (with six plates) (Smithsonian miscellaneous collections) (Unknown Binding)

    by Earl Steinford Johnston

The reason why the greenhouse is green is because the CO2 aerial fertilizes the wheat plants and the heat it up because aerial fertilization is more efficient with the higher temperature.

And how hot was it when the dinosaurs walked the earth? And there were some pretty large herbivores among them, yes? So there must have been much green around for them to eat, yes?

Lastly, the rise in temp should also mean that more now frozen land will become arable land, yes?  Have you seen the projected increase in human population over the next century?  So good that we'll have more arable with more warming.

Sorry, almost forgot, but to put your lie to the flame, please read Nemani et al's piece in Science, which reports that during the period under review, the earth's net primary production increased 6%.  Do you think that we stopped hacking away at the vegetation during that period? Of course not. But yet with more warm, the earth's net primary production increased 6%.  Here's the piece:

    www.sciencemag.org/.../1560

See the headline? Climate-driven increase in global terrestrial net primary production. You can't be "green" and be against that, now, can you?  But some of the sheep on Orwell's living Animal Farm certainly are.

The lunacy of catastrophic anthropogenic global warming media bias is evident in the above attack job, portraying skeptics as "disconnected from reality" and as "right-wing".  Are those words of moderation, seeking to disseminate the truth with objective reporting?
