A Few Short Local Notes

--In the context of running one of the largest parts of the city government, not to mention a key component of first-response capabilities, "loosey-goosey" strikes me as perhaps somewhat inadequate.

--Tufts snags the governor for its ante in the annual Commencement Speaker Wars. Too bad MIT got there first

--Memo to Jim Spencer: when your guy is running on transparency in government, do not refer to FOIA requests as "irritating."

--It appears that Seattle police chief Gil Kerlikowske will be Obama's drug czar. Three years ago, he was my #2 recommendation for Boston to hire as police commissioner. Oddly, Mayor Tom did not take my sage advice in that article.

The Herald reporters have got their heads up the...  well, somewhere else.

Those are *not* FOIA requests, which are requests made of federal government agencies and departments; instead, they are Massachusetts Public Records Law requests, which are made of state and municipal governments and their employees.  Any reporter worth their salt knows the difference.
