Q&A #8 -- Capuano's Successor?

"Ben" asks:

"Let's imagine for a second that Capuano takes the senate seat. Besides Joe Kennedy's son and Mike Ross, have you heard rumblings of anyone else laying tentative plans for the MA-8th?"

I haven't, but I have no doubt there are plenty of wheels spinning in people's heads. I've heard people say Somerville mayor Joe Curtatone could go for it. There has long been the thought that Jarrett Barrios would love to run for that seat. Of the current legislators in the district, I would think Steve Tolman might be thinking about it. And my guess is that there are plenty of folks -- pols and not -- in Cambridge and elsewhere in the district who would be tempted.

I'd love to see Steve Tolman go for it, but a chunk of his district -- Watertown and Belmont -- was re-districted out of the 8th.  Sure that doesn't amount to a whole lot of votes compared with the rest of the district, but in a crowded field that's a couple thousand votes he's missing out on.

I think Rep.Marie St.Fleur D-Dorchester is my choice. She is one of the most articulate, intellegent and passionate women I have ever encountered in public life.  I would work hard for her is she ran !

I'm for Ross ... he has worked hard as a district Councilor, and as President....the Boston Common stuff is great. Barrios is a carpet bagger ... moving into Boston is transparent.

Jarrett now lives in JP - not Capuano's district.

correction -- in district (bordering Lynch) but not a stronghold of Capuano's; or where Jarrett's politcal base lives. He seems happy with GLAAD.
