[download] Team Spirit "Jesus, He's Alright (demo);" Ayad of Passion Pit's new band
Last week I put that dusty old print journalism degree from Hofstra University to damn fine use by reporting, via late-night Facebook rant, that the new PASSION PIT record won't be out until next year. So what're the rest of the Pit dudes to do when Michael Angelakos is out in Los Angeles (maybe, who the hell knows?) calmly writing/recording/producing the much-anticipated sequel to Manners?
Well, if you're keyboardist AYAD AL ADHAMY, you settle down in Brooklyn (boo!), start a label (yay!), name it Black Bell Records, sign a bunch of awesome bands like Joy Formidable, Girlfriends, and Secret Music, and finally start a new band with his NYC buds Dave Weingarten (of TvTv and Black Bell) and Roman Tobias Pettigrew.
That band is called TEAM SPIRIT, and they appear hellbent on making all current British guitar rock bands sound like unfit wankers. We just scored the exclusive demo, so peep it -- it's pretty rad, and quite a rocking departure from the Passion Pit electro-pop sound. But our man Ayad said he's always been a guitarist at heart, and here, he even pulls vocal duties. Look out, MA!
More on Team Spirit as we learn more, but in the meantime, grab the "Jesus He's Alright" demo, on us:
