All that was missing from last night's Misfits cover set at the Born of Fire Halloween show was Glenn Danzig abruptly running next door to buy kitty litter at Unleashed. While Misfits tribute shows are pretty standard fare for this time of year, this one was pretty intense. Best line of the night: When Acaro singer Chris Harrell noticed his glued-on devilock was starting to loosen, he quipped "Hey, my hair is falling out, just like Danzig."

A few weeks before tearing up SXSW and playing what felt like every single Mike's Hard Lemonade-sponsored party imaginable, Florida's post-grunge teenage rock and roll lads Surfer Blood rolled into Great Scott on March 2 for a much-hyped and very sold-out gig with Turbo Fruits.

These days, it ain’t easy being Mephistopheles. As the Lucifer henchman responsible for rounding up the souls of those already perceived to be damned, he’s got his work cut out for him. (And that’s not even getting into the whole drama of that cheesy ‘90s ska band abusing his not-so-good name.) But ol’ Meph appears to have struck up a fancy on our local streets, finding himself constantly up in the grill of Noel Kelly.

From the Middle East: a wake will be held for Billy Ruane on Saturday, October 30 from 4 to 8 pm at the Donovan-Aufiero Funeral Home, 140 Otis Street in Cambridge.

A reception will follow at the Middle East from 8 to 10 pm.

The hard-partying, harder-working Slaine has never been more exhausted than he was this Monday. It's no wonder; he'd been draining booze and hibernating in his Brockton lab for 17 straight days and nights recording his new The Devil Never Dies mixtape.

Slaine's looked weathered in the past. But in the wake of this most recent marathon session, his eyes were glassier than than they were on the tail end of his two-month tour with Tech N9ne, and after he completed months of filming for his roles in “Gone Baby Gone” and “The Town.

Before I knew who he was, I seemed to spot him everywhere. Sitting in the old Central Square Cinema at a screening of Who’ll Stop the Rain, smelling of booze and cursing out Tuesday Weld’s character, muttering under his breath, “Stupid bitch,” as she unwittingly sold out Nick Nolte.
