As you may already know, the Boston Phoenix is relocating, roughly 40 yards to the north. As we clean up the far side of our offices here on Brookline Avenue, we're rummaging through some old things. Some old books not cracked open since '83 . Some dusty microfilm that confuses the interns born in '92. Some sticky black and white press photos of Scruffy the Cat. And even some... oh, shit, actually, a whole lot of Boston rock CDs from the past 20 years.

I just raided the bins of Bossman Carly Carioli and walked away with a dynamite collection of post-millennial, mid-'00s, Nightclub vs Basement rock: Lifestyle, Crystal Understanding, Read Yellow, the Hidden, Eyes Like Knives, Lot Six, Matters & Dunaway, the Explosion, the Information, Victory at Sea, Tunnel of Love, UV Protection (!!!!), Codetta, the Glass Set, and even a burned CD-r Mean Creek demo of Around The Bend, the track listing written-out very carefully by occasional Buffalo Tom backing singer Aurore Ounjian.

Because we're journalists and we document everything we do, Liz Pelly, Carioli, and I created a tumblr documenting what we find. There's a lot of Ho-Ag, Big Bear, Chris Brokaw, Big Digits, stuff like that.
