ClimateGate continues unabated, and since science dubiously falls under the purview of dorkdom, here’s some color commentary specially packaged by Laser Orgy. I should warn you that the extent of my scientific know-how comes from reading the backround materials in Resident Evil 5 about Las Plagas … which is to say, I’m more of a science fiction type of gal, and I'm anything but an expert on the real deal.
Mitch Krpata's review of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will be up on our site soon enough, but in the meantime, check out his blog post about how much he's enjoying the game's online multiplayer. He's not the only one; Modern Warfare 2 has had an explosive release. In terms of revenue earned, MW2 even beats the U.
With just an hour to go before laser beams start shooting out of the TD Garden's ceiling in time to "The Imperial March" at tonight's "Star Wars: In Concert" extravaganza, let's have a quick moment of silence for a man who made a huge contribution to the Star Wars legacy, and sci-fi in general. Artist Don Ivan Punchatz, sometimes referred to as "The Godfather of Dallas Illustration," died on October 22 in his home state of Texas at age 73.
Hizzoner hath decreed it: November 14 is Leonard Nimoy Day. Why? Well, as loyal Museum of Science visitors know, he grew up three blocks from here. (Seriously, folks, if you haven't seen Nimoy's "Who put the bomp?" intro to an MoS IMAX film, you should probably have your New Englander license revoked.

Here's a guess: you probably know what Twilight: New Moon is all about already. And so you probably also know who Kellan Lutz is, then, also. He was in town yesterday to promote the new film (as though it needs promoting), so we dispatched Chris Faraone and Maddy Myers (who had previously teamed up to interview him last year when the first movie came out) to ask him a few questions.
Back in 2007, My DNA Fragrance began its production of perfumes and colognes engineered from customers' genetic make-up. You swab yourself, send in the sample, and wait for the experts to ... well, actually, it's not clear what those perfume experts are doing after you mail that sample in. Their press release says it's a "personalized fragrance .
Rumors have been flying for a while about this, and we did mention those ratings slipping -- but now it's final. Joss Whedon's sci-fi series Dollhouse has been cancelled.
At least Dollhouse won't have to go the way of Firefly, which got cancelled mid-season, leading Whedon to attempt to wrap up a plethora of loose ends in a film.
There's a new rhythm game on the shelves; you may have heard the talk. We liked it (check the review here), and we weren't the only ones. DJ Hero's turntable and game set is going for $120: a worthy purchase, but a bit steep for gamers pressed for cash. This is where we come in.
Just fill out this form and you'll be entered to win a free copy of DJ Hero for the Playstation 2 .
Here's a little gamer innovation (courtesy of Co-Optimus). This young flutist discovered that she could ace Expert Mode on Rock Band not by singing, but by playing her flute into the mic:
My first reaction is a strong desire to break out my old clarinet and try it myself, but I also thought about what could this mean for future Rock Band peripherals.
So Modern Warfare 2 was released today with the attendant fanfare usually reserved for only the heaviest of hitters in the gaming universe like Halo or Grand Theft Auto. Stores opened their doors at midnight for eager gamers; some even broke the street date (earning the ire of Activision, the game's publisher, in the process).
Yesterday, we noted the lawsuit brought against Activision by the band No Doubt, who appear in the just-released how-is-this-not-Guitar-Hero game Band Hero. Previously, we've discussed the legal action taken by Courtney Love based upon her late husband's much-maligned appearance in Guitar Hero 5
Epic has released the Unreal Development kit, a version of their Unreal Engine, for everyone to use with the hopes of some genuinely creative, cutting-edge games emerging from a more democratized process. The Unreal Engine, as you may be aware, formed the basis for numerous awesome games, including BioShock and Gears of War
It's been a long time coming for you. We didn’t want to believe that you were really going out of business -- but it turns out that you have declared bankruptcy and you’re suffering a messy legal aftermath.
We hope you keep your doors open as long as feasibly possible -- after all, we voted you Best Asian Grocery this year -- but we have come to accept that you are on your deathbed, and nothing short of a miracle cure will bring you back to your glory days.
