The Many Faces of Sharktopus

As far as monster mashups go, "Sharktopus" is pretty straightforward in its absurdity. Still, the imaginations of sci-fi fans have run wild in the days since Karen O'Hara of SyFy Movies announced via Twitter that low-budget schlockmaster Roger Corman's long-awaited Sharktopus is finally in the works.

SyfyMovies Spent half am hour discussing what a sharktopus should look like, how many mouths it should have and how it should kill. That's my job!

Do I smell a Guess-How-Many-Mouths-Sharktopus-Will-Have contest brewing? Check out the images that have surfaced across the Web in breathless anticipation of what form this beast will take.

Dread Central's Uncle Creepy transforms Sharktopus into something you might actually find floating in a jar of formaldehyde at the Museum of Natural History.

Over at FearNet, they link to this image from the Art of Romance Gallery, which sort of looks like a deleted scene from a more terrifying version of The Little Mermaid (for the record, that'd be the 1975 anime version).

This artist's clay vision of Sharktopus only has one mouth, which, according to io9, is a "serious drawback." But it looks like one mouth and a bunch of tentacles are more than enough to demolish that poor snorkeler.

And the only thing missing from Sebastian Junger's The Perfect Storm was artist Matt Leach's version of the Sharktopus, above.
