Cartoon by Stephanie McMillan. Here's the e-mail we received:
"Hello,
Last week my Minimum Security cartoon featuring the phone numbers of
anti-abortion South Dakota senator Bill Napoli went viral. It was posted
on boingboing.com and countless blogs, linked in Salon.com and even
written about in a New Zealand newspaper.
Since it's been receiving this attention, I want to use it to raise money
to help keep abortion safe and legal in South Dakota. To that end, I'm
auctioning off the original cartoon on ebay.
To see it, search on ebay for "Napoli Cartoon," or here's a link.
I will donate 100% of the winning bid, after I receive it, to two places,
half of the amount going to each:
1) Planned Parenthood of Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, which
operates the only clinic in the entire state of South Dakota that performs
abortions, and
2) Sacred Choices, a women's reproductive health clinic planned by Cecilia
Fire Thunder, President of the Oglala Sioux Tribe. The clinic will be
built on tribal land in South Dakota, and thus will not be subject to US
laws.
Both organizations have been informed, and copies of their letters of
acceptance are posted in the auction.
The auction ends at 3 p.m. EST on Wednesday, April 5."

We thought it was a match made in heaven. David Brent meets Homer Simpson. Boy, were we fucked over.
Turns out the best the Brits have to offer can't just waltz in and write a good episode of America's first family.
For the utter rubbish we were just forced to watch (and the
Sopranos wasn't that better. If SC hears one more pseudo intellectual tell us that the coma dream is a brilliant piece of existential mind fucking, we're going to hurl) we're going to bring up
Seona Dancing again. That was Ricky's synth-pop band from the early '80s. Listen to the hit "
More to Lose." Oh well, here's our list of the
20 best Simpsons guest stars of all time. The list is secure for now.

The Elite Eight in our Slop Culture Viral Video March Madness:
Andrew Mathas's "Interpretation of Fall Out Boy," which, as
we reported, is now property of MTV.
(
MTV's version) (
Our version)
The best of Jimmy Kimmel's "
Unnecessary Censorship" segment
The somewhat obligatory "
Lazy Sunday"
Real-life Simpsons, which is going to
air on Fox this Sunday.
The trailer for the upcoming family comedy "
Shining," starring Jack Nicholson.
The
Toy Story 2/Requiem For a Dream mashup
The Muppet Matrix, with its genius casting of the Rat in the Joe Pantoliano role
And finally, our wild-card entry: this dude
breaking the rear window of an SUV (possibly not his) with his skull.
We can only select four out of these, so get those votes in now!

In case you missed it, someone has YouTube-ized the
dramatic death of Chef on
South Park.
Watch it now before Comedy Central steps in and gets them to take it
down (as though they won't re-run it, like, 57 times by the end of this
week):
Believe it or not, they left the door open for a Chef return later on in the show.
In case you were curious, the famous "
Trapped in the Closet" episode is all over the Web now. Comedy Central doesn't seem to be doing anything about it, so, you know, fingers crossed.

According to
this story on MSNBC, New Line Cinema, realizing they've got
the movie of the year
on their hands, have decided to reshoot, so as to turn previously tame
PG-13 segments into R-worthy scenes. And this had better be a hard 'R,'
too.
We don't want to talk about how someone (possibly New Line) removed the long-awaited
trailer from YouTube, though. It just makes us mad.

Tonight at 10 pm and again at midnight,
South Park will begin its tenth season. Its title, "Chef Returns," is curious because, as you'll recall,
Isaac Hayes supposedly quit the show
over an episode that poked fun at Scientology. We say "supposedly"
because there's a report on Fox News of all places that suggests Hayes,
who recently suffered a stroke, is in no position to "quit" anything,
and that
"someone" did the quitting for him. Also, there was the whole flap about Tom Cruise
playing hardball
with Paramount (industry sources say) to get the Scientology-baiting
"Trapped in the Closet" episode removed from Comedy Central's schedule.
Co-creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone have now "declared war" on
Scientology, and if
South Park can't deliver something hilarious based on that premise, then why is the show even on the air?
Of course, if the show wasn't on the air . . . I mean, what, would Comedy Central subject us to
more Bill Engvall to fill up time on their schedule?

This week on the site, we celebrate Ricky Gervais's
Simpsons episode (airing this Sunday) by
counting down the 20 greatest Simpsons guest stars of all time. Here's a couple we missed:
1. David Hyde Pierce, who plays Sideshow Bob's brother who's plotting
to destroy Springfield by blowing up the hydroelectric dam.
2. Barry White, who is sickened by Wacking Day.
3. David Duchovny and Gilian Anderson as Mulder and Scully (duh).
4. Meryl Streep as Bart's girlfriend (the Reverend's daughter)
5. Thomas Pynchon, who's been on
twice.

What the fuck?
No story here. No biting commentary or analysis. He got shot, we get it. But business gets put on hold for three full days? (and one whole episode!?)
A waste of a week. Let's hope
Grey's Anatomy has another shower scene, or else this will be one big waste of a Sunday night. When does
Entourage start?

here's the bracket--scroll through past posts to watch the videos.
Here's some weekend matchups for everyone:
An 8 v. 9, theoretically the toughest matchup possible. Kimmel's
unnecessary censorship and the midwest response to "Lazy Sunday," "
Lazy Muncie," which weirdly has
its own site. If you look closely, you can pinpoint the moment when
The Lonely Island guys jump the shark.
There
was a funny video of
one of ESPNNEWS's anchors swearing on the air, but it was taken down (as you can see). Unfortunately, we may have to give The Simpsons (in live action) an automatic win.
Then there's this
live recreation of Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!:
Against this live-action version of
Pac-Man:

When a movie calls itself
Snakes on a Plane, you know it
means business. On top of that, you've got Mr. Meaning Business, Samuel
L. Jackson, in a starring role. How could you not be excited? After months of anticipation, a trailer
finally made its way not to Apple or Yahoo, but to
Youtube.
We are so there!
March 16, 2006
Here's a couple of the more lopsided matchups in our view, so in the interest of keeping this space slightly clean, we'll only link to most of these:
"
Star Wars: The Empire Brokeback" vs. the classic "
Boom goes the dynamite" kid (yeah, the sportscaster thing's like a year old, but it gets us every time.)
Kanye West calling out Bush vs. "
Ultimate sucker punch" (again, Kanye's thing is old news, but it's still hilarious - although sucker punches can be kind of funny.)
Natalie Portman's famous SNL rap vs.
West Side Story re-imagined as a zombie film (more of a toss-up, actually)
And finally,
another Brokeback parody (involving
Back to the Future) going up against
this, our new favorite trailer remix,
Something Blue (
Velvet) (NSFW audio, possibly)

Now that
Howard Stern's on Sirius, the only way to watch his show is through
In Demand. Check out the promos:
Beaver.wmv (653.16 KB)Clam.wmv (639.83 KB)Monkey.wmv (486.1 KB)Also, as you may or may not know, Stern is currently beings sued by CBS's Les Moonves over his move to satellite, and Stern, hardly the type to shy away from such matters, addressed the situation on his
Late Show appearance with David Letterman. In case you forgot: the
Late Show With David Letterman airs on CBS.

Fresh off the wire - Isaac Hayes leaving South Park. Here's the press release.
ISAAC HAYES REQUESTS RELEASE FROM "SOUTH PARK"
Legendary soul man Isaac Hayes has officially requested a release from his contract with the "South Park" television show, and the Comedy Central cable station. Mr. Hayes has been a cast member of "South Park" since 1997 as the voice of "CHEF".
Mr. Hayes has decided to part ways with "South Park" because of recent episodes and press that have embarked upon what he feels are inappropriate ridicule of religious communities. While fully acknowledging "South Park's" right to freedom of speech, Mr. Hayes is disappointed with what he perceives as a growing insensitivity towards personal spiritual beliefs, not only with "South Park" episodes but also the recent Danish cartoon controversy.
"There is a place in this world for satire, but there is a time when satire ends and intolerance and bigotry towards religious beliefs of others begins." Mr. Hayes adds, "religious beliefs are sacred to people, and at all times should be respected and honored. As a civil rights activist of the past 40 years, I cannot support a show that disrespects those beliefs and practices."

We'll have the next Slop Madness battle up Monday, but for now, here's an updated bracket:
