WHY THEM: Bloomington's Waxeater, named after a Jesus Lizard song, throw booze-soaked punches at your ears with a southern-tinged hardcore punk without the stigma associated with southern rock. Cheeky song titles like "Are Those Fucking Beers Ice Cold Yet?" and album names like "Decent Riff" indicate Waxeater know how to have a lot of fun while making a hell of a lot of noise. In addition, their Facebook page is adorned with everything spelled in all caps — just to let you know they still mean business. The recordings maintain a homegrown feel but still smack you across the face like the latest metal shit. Grainy guitars, booming drums, and reckless shouting are just a few things to expect from this powerhouse of a band.
